Feeding Therapy

Mealtime is often a time of positive family connection, joy, and nourishment. But when mealtime is disrupted by challenging behaviors or feeding difficulties, it can be a time of great strife. Anticipating and participating in meals can be a chronic source of anxiety for both the child and the rest of the family. Our therapists use a variety of positive teaching practices to support the family mealtime, along with developing the specific skills the child requires for increased independence.

Our treatment approaches are informed by training these areas:

  • Sequential Oral Sensory (S.O.S) Approach to Feeding program

  • Ellyn Satter's Division of Responsibility in Feeding

  • Lactation and weaning

  • Beckman Oral Motor training

  • Tube feeding and weaning

  • Sensory-based food introduction

  • Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI®)
