Mealtime is often a time of positive family connection, joy, and nourishment. But when mealtime is disrupted by challenging behaviors or feeding difficulties, mealtime can be a time of great strife. Anticipation of and participation in mealtimes can be a near constant concern and source of anxiety for both parents/caregivers and child, as well as siblings.
Our therapists use a variety of positive teaching practices to support the family at mealtime, along with developing the specific skills the child requires for increased independence. We believe that tailoring the therapy to each child and family’s needs will result in the most optimal outcomes. Our approach includes:
Sequential Oral Sensory (S.O.S) Approach to Feeding program
Lactation and weaning
Beckman Oral Motor training
Tube feeding and weaning
Sensory-based food introduction
Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI®)
